okay well i am a trekkie and i have a grand total of zero trekkie friends so ive decided to turn to you dear blog for my ranting needs. I am a big fan of Vulcans as their anatomy and culture and being intrigue me. but when im reading a fanfiction and someone just takes the vulcan pride and name and disrepsects it. well i know its only a harmless story but honestly!
1. Vulcans dont get drunk off alcohol. they choose not to drink it but chocolate is their vice and when a vulcan gets inebriated off alcohol alone well, no.
2. Vulcans dont cry. Spocks mother and captain both died and both times he did no more then shed a single tear and hes half human. Vulcans certainly dont sit in their rooms sobbing for a half hour because part of the crew heard who they liked. what even.
3. Vulcans have emotiom but dont shove it down others throats. yeh, they feel, dont ever believe otherwise, but they also dont blatantly flaunt their emotions as they usually are forced to keep their logical guise up for show.
4. Bonds. (obviously the clincher for me). dont mess with the bonds. they arent a joke. they arent spur of the moment decisions. they take time and care and for the love of god, yes vulcans are touch telepaths but that doesnt mean two unbonded people can have a mental conversation. uh uh. dont disrespect the bond.
5. (on a slightly unrelated note) Its Jim. for the love of god nobody calls him James unless its followed by: T Kirk of the Federation Starship Enterprise.
i apologize if i come off know it all-ish and youre probably wondering 1. why im so worked up over something as nonsensical as fanfiction. or 2. why didnt i just stop reading it if there were so many problems?
answer is simple: a lot of fics are out there that get it wrong so i didnt have a choice, and obviously you dont know me because i just enjoy yelling at things.
There.
Thats part of the Vulcan lesson ive been wanting to give to my best friend for a while but she wont ever listen to it so i gave up trying....whatever.
Bailey out.
